DVLUP Interview with Deani Hansen: Why Design Matters
Last week I got interviewed by DVLUP about why design matters and how I experience being both a designer and a developer. The interview is now available online - I hope you'll give it a read.

I think the interview got a few great takeaways on design and what I believe it takes to make it great. Here's a few snippets from the interview that I think is some of the most important ones.
Why I'm both a designer and a developer
What I’ve always been deeply fascinated about is how design can break down the barrier between technology and humans by taking a very complex product and making the experience feel natural and almost inevitable. Being a designer and developer allows me to do pursue just that.
On creating great products
Great design is all about removing the unnecessary. All the things that don’t add value – get it out of the way. Once you narrow it down, you finally have the absolute essentials left. That’s where you get a product that has this profound sense of beauty, purity, and simplicity, and that’s what makes a great product.
Working on personal projects and drawing a line on the process of improving
On my personal projects I design until I feel the experience has a profound sense of beauty, purity, and simplicity. It has to feel inevitable. And sometimes that takes time… A LOT of time.
Being interviewed was a first for me but the DVLUP team made it really enjoyable. I'd definately do it again for them if I get the chance.
I hope you'll read the interview and I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
